This album of older recordings was first published as a CDr, part of the collection Kalerne Temporary Editions, in 2007, in Taiwan. It was reissue a bit later under the same collection, due to a surprising demand in Taiwan for the European crickets... Then it was released for free as individual MP3 files on Kalerne.net. Now available here for the free pleasure of listening but if you want to use those in your project please contact the recordist first.

A collection of sounds of crickets encountered in Europe.

Crickets are insects from the order of Orthopterae (whichs means "straight wings"). The male produces stridulations by rubbing their wings. The frequency of these songs depends from the temperature of their environment. Most of these songs have a quite tonal quality, doesn't have a very wide broadband range in terms of frequency, and are played by night. Crickets have a significant role in a number of cultures, the most well-known being the cricket kept in cage has pet in China where the owners liked to listen to its voice while falling asleep.
